It’s been a year to forget for fans and front office of the St. Louis Cardinals, who find themselves on the wrong end of a .500 season for the first time since 2007.
With the Cardinals sitting at 67-83 and in last place in the NL Central, it seems like second-year manager Oliver Marmol’s time in St. Louis may be come to an early end. Cardinals Struggles Could Cost Marmol
It seems like the 37-year-old Florida native’s time with the Cardinals is ending, a year after Marmol led St. Louis to a 93-69 record and a first-place finish in their division.
Thanks to the franchise’s current last-place standing in the NL Central (a position the club hasn’t been in since the 1990 season), and St. Louis’ lack of form on the field all year, it seems like a no-brainer Marmol is a leading candidate to get sacked when the season wraps up. He has -120 odds on our list. Marmol ranks ahead of Aaron Boone of the New York Yankees (+150), Colorado’s Bud Black (+175), Phil Nevin of the L.A. Angels (+200) and Buck Showalter of the New York Mets (+350) on our MLB managerial firing odds.
On the other side of the baseball world, Atlanta is the favorite at BetMGM Sportsbook — there is no BetMGM Missouri — to win the World Series at +225 odds. Defending champion Houston and the Los Angeles Dodgers are tied for second at +550.
